Texas Millennial Alexis Bloomer Challenges All Millennials To Step Up!
She was walking out of the post office when she noticed two boys run past an elderly man without holding the door for him. It just didn’t seem right, so local resident Alexis Bloomer went on her way feeling that something was wrong and thinking about exactly what it was that bothered her.
“No ones’ Really Challenging Us To Be Better”
She realized that there was an attitude problem with her generation, and she decided to do something about it. She whipped out a few notes, turned on the camera and now over 40,000,000, that’s 40 Million viewers, have seen the video and she has undoubtedly made a difference.
In her video, Alexis had this to say:
As a Millennial I take it upon myself to evaluate what’s so wrong with our generation and why they’re so mad at us. Then I pretty much realized that we’re just existing, we’re not really contributing anything to society.
Our generation doesn’t have the basic manners that include, No Ma’am and Yes Ma’am. We don’t respect our elders, we don’t even respect our country. We’re stepping on our flag instead of stepping up to volunteer.
We idolize people like Kim Kardashian and then we shame people like Tim Tebow. We’re lazy, we’re really entitled, and we want to make a lot of money and get a free education, but we aren’t willing to put in the work.
We’re more divided as a country than ever before and I think our generation actually has a lot to do with that. Everything you see frowned upon, we now see celebrated.”
When asked why she was sending this message that’s resonating with so many people, and what can be done? Alexis said:
“No One’s Really Challenging Us To Be Better”
“We can lead by example. We should step up and prove people wrong. I’m going to practice the things that my parents taught me like kindness and respect. Often now people view kindness as a weakness. And I don’t think it’s bad at all.
It doesn’t cost anything to be kind and to have common respect and decency. I’m just going to do that in my everyday life and hope that other people follow suit.”
