Marco Rubio went on an hour-long tweetstorm Friday, responding to tweets directed at him about his support for Donald Trump.
“@marcorubio you already said you supported him, in the first Tapper interview. It would have been best to leave well enough alone. JMO,” one person tweeted at the Florida senator.
“Wish it worked that way. They ask EVERY time until they get answer little different from the others 1/2,” Rubio tweeted back. “But if you give same answer too many times then they say you are ‘robotic’ and ‘scipted’. Sound familiar? Lol.”
But when another person said Rubio had “no need to defend” himself, the senator replied: “Thank you. But not defending, providing some twittereality to a very difficult conundrum.”
He also said he would “respect and understand” people in the “Never Trump” and “Never Hillary [Clinton]” camps. “Never said it was easy choice,” he said. He later wrote: “But after 8 years of Obama, 4 yrs of Clinton is too much for me.”
Then one Twitter user challenged: “What about ‘I won’t be supporting/voting for Trump, but I’ll be supporting & campaigning for down ticket GOP.'”
Rubio fired back: “How do we repeal Obamacare with POTUS signature?”
The user tweeted: “So we repeal ACA only to ruin conservative platform, guaranteeing countless succeeding elections go Democrat, then get new ACA?”
And Rubio responded: “Makes keeping congress in hands of conservatives even more important. Maybe chance to return proper balance again.”
