Said his prayers were with all those affected by the attack in Germany
Added that we must do ‘everything’ to stop terrorism coming to the US
Horrifying attack in the Munich shopping mall has left at least nine dead
Donald Trump has said we must do everything we can to stop terrorism following the attacks in Munich.
The Republican presidential nominee released a statement saying: ‘This cannot continue’, 24 hours after his speech at the GOP convention.
He said: ‘Our prayers are with all those affected by the horrible attacks in Munich. This cannot continue.
‘The rise of terrorism threatens the way of life for all civilized people, and we must do everything in our power to keep it from our shores.’
The shooting at a shopping mall in the German city has left at least nine people dead.
Witnesses say a gunman shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ opened fire at children in McDonald’s before rampaging through the mall.
Terrified shoppers were seen running for their lives from the Munich Olympia Shopping Centre, in the district of Moosach, after hearing gunshots.
Trump addressed terrorism as he accepted the Republican nomination for president in Cleveland on Thursday evening.
He said the terrorism ‘in our cities threatens our way of life’. ‘Any politician who does not grasp this danger is not fit to lead our country,’ he said.
The billionaire also said that ISIS had made its way to the West. There is nothing to suggest ISIS is responsible for the latest attack.
Trump also said that Hillary Clinton’s legacy is: ‘death, destruction, terrorism and weakness’.
