After being told that Donald Trump was evolving into a more considered and Presidential candidate, he delighted his Bridgeport, Connecticut supporters with a confident no holds barred speech.
He said that he’s not changing his pitch to voters, and this just one day after Paul Manafort, his chief campaign advisor, assured GOP officials that the Republican front-runner would show more restraint while campaigning. Manafort in fact went as far as to say that Trump has been “projecting an image” and that “the part that he’s been playing is now evolving.”
But Trump was just the Trump of old,
“You know, being presidential’s easy — much easier than what I have to do,” he told thousands at a rally in Bridgeport, Connecticut. “Here, I have to rant and rave. I have to keep you people going. Otherwise you’re going to fall asleep on me, right?”
Trump followed his own rally guide lines and ‘ranted and raved’ about the issues he has brought to the attention of the American voters; including his signature ‘building a wall’.
“Everything I say I’m going to do, folks, I’ll do,” he said.
Trump raised the issue of Ted Cruz’s Canadian birth which he had previously suggested made Cruz ineligible to run for president. Most experts do however, believe Cruz is eligible to run.
“Rafael! Straight out of the hills of Canada!” Trump declared.
During the rally Trump again turned to Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, and referred to her as “Crooked Hillary”. Despite the signs that the Trump campaign was making peaceful overtures to the GOP, he again attacked the Washington Republicans’ system of awarding delegates for primary and caucus wins as “rigged.”
Further proving that he has no wish to tone down the rhetoric, he suggested that GOP rival and Ohio Governor, John Kasich change the spelling of his last name so that it could be more easily pronounced. And after a spell of calling Ted Cruz, Senator Cruz, he was back to, “Lyin’ Ted”.
“I sorta don’t like toning it down,” Trump said Saturday.
