DONALD TRUMP has accused Democrat and lawyer Hillary Clinton of failing the bar exam. But is there any truth to his claim?
The Republican candidate made the accusation during a fresh attack on his rival at a rally in Iowa, US on September 28.
“Hillary Clinton is incompetent. She failed her bar exam in Washington, DC,” he told the crowd. “I’m not that surprised, actually.”
Mr Trump had previously brought up Mrs Clinton’s law exam on Twitter.
He wrote: “Does anyone know that crooked Hillary, who tried so hard, was unable to pass the bar exam in Washington, DC? She was forced to go elsewhere.”
While Mr Trump has gained a reputation for sometimes spouting less-than-truths, he is correct about Mrs Clinton’s exam.
After graduating from Yale University, the Democrat sat the bar in both Washington DC and Arkansas in 1973.
Though she failed the legal exam in Washington, DC, she passed in Arkansas – the state where her then-boyfriend Bill was living.
Mrs Clinton revealed the failure in her autobiography. She wrote: “Despite the satisfaction of my work, I was lonely and missed Bill more than I could stand.
