They Cared More About Denying Trump A Victory Than They Possibly Cared For Dreamers
Democrats are up in arms about President Trump’s decision to end Obama’s executive order protecting illegal aliens who came to the U.S. as children. If they want someone to blame though, they should be looking in a mirror.
Democrats Had Their Chance, And They Still Have Six Months To Step Up
President Trump purposefully held back on rescinding DACA for months in order to strike a deal with Congressional Democrats offering Dreamers green card status and at the same time, allowing Trump to fulfill another of his campaign promises on immigration, reported Red Alert Politics.
According to milo.yiannopoulos.net:
White House officials were looking for an ambitious deal where the Trump would sign a bill offering permanent legal residence to DACA recipients in exchange for Congressional Democrats supporting the RAISE Act which would create a merit based immigration system and lower the number of immigrants coming to the U.S., e-verify which would mandate all businesses check the legal status of all their employees, and funding for the border wall.
Democrats rejected the President’s offer on several occasions and liberal activists scoffed at the proposal, Rachel Maddow’s producer wrote an article for MSNBC about the deal, “On immigration, Trump has an offer Dems can easily refuse.”
They cared more about refusing to give Trump a victory on his border wall to appease their base than they did about protecting the illegal alien DREAMers they pretend to care about.
Had Democrats been willing to play ball and create a bipartisan effort that would have both appeased Trump’s base as well as their own, then we may have seen wall funding, the RAISE Act, e-verify, and green cards for the DACA recipients. Instead they can offer what they always offer, phony outrage and campaign fundraising e-mails.”
