A DONALD Trump supporter has slapped down a Newsnight presenter after eloquently setting out the reasons why people will vote for the Republican.
From The Express
Ann Coulter gave an impassioned defence of the billionaire with less than 24 hours until the polls close and the 45th US President is decided.
After stating the Republican was the only candidate who was tackling the issues and standing up to the ruling class at his rallies, presenter Emily Maitlis asked Coulter if it was the personality of Trump which made him an attractive option to voters.
Coulter said: “I think I just said the exact opposite.
“I’m talking about his issues. No-one is voting for Trump because of his personality.”
The conservative commentator received plaudits on social media for not bowing down to Maitlis’ line of questioning.
User @Bluehand007 tweeted: “Good to see @AnnCoulter destroy our leftist #BBC on #Newsnight well done defeating slander with facts is always effective #Trump #Bluehand.”
Fellow user @OpenYourEyes added: “#Newsnight @AnnCoulter right on the money. It’s about the issues, not the slanderous gutter s*** left @MartinAmisSays always hauls out.”
Viewers also felt that Coulter came out on top in her debate with novelist Martin Amis on the show.
Dermot Meagher tweeted: “@AnnCoulter on #Newsnight has just wiped the floor with Martin Amis! Scarily, she has also shown why @realDonaldTrump might just win this!”
Peter Jackson also tweeted: “Martin Amis on BBC Newsnight just now got fried by a Trump biographer. Appeared as an out of touch liberal leftie.”
Coulter, who has written the book “In Trump We Trust” about the business tycoon’s tilt at the White House, said it was a common misconception that Trump does not talk about issues.
