Clinton’s book Stronger Together has seen slow sales since its release
It’s also been subject to numerous scathing reviews of Amazon page
But some readers noticed that numbers of negative reviews went down
Amazon has been accused of fixing the reviews for Hillary Clinton’s campaign book.
Clinton’s book Stronger Together, co-authored with her running mate Tim Kaine, has seen slow sales since it was released earlier this month.
Despite this, its online ratings have been terrible and the book’s page on Amazon has been flooded with a string of scathing reviews.
But Amazon appears to have been trying to help the Democratic candidate for president by removing numerous negative reviews, WND reports.
Amazon deleted hundreds of critical reviews last week, according to the website which has been tracking the number of reviews posted.
On Thursday, Amazon said the book – which lays out Clinton’s agenda to ‘improve the lives of the American people’ – had 91 good reviews compared to 166 bad ones.
But just a couple of days earlier, there had been 1,244 reviews – 81 per cent of them giving the book just one star, according to WND.
One user, Sherwood 4ust, spotted the trend and posted a one-star review entitled ‘The Case of the Missing Reviews.’
The user noted that by the evening of September 19, there were 983 reviews of the book, which ‘were merciless and many quite funny.’
However, four days later, the user said there were just 209 reviews.
‘Hmmmmm, what happened to all those other reviews? Apparently Clinton has friends at Amazon,’ the user speculated.
Another reviewer posted on Sunday that it’s tragic that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos ‘is willing to risk the integrity of the ratings system to protect his Presidential Candidate of Choice.’
One customer, who gave the book the lowest rating available, said: ‘Every time I write my review it gets deleted, it’s so weird.’
But now, it appears customers have posted a vast number of negative reviews in recent days to turn the tide once again.
As of Monday evening, there are 2,665 customer reviews – 89 per cent of which are one star reviews and eight per cent of which are five star.
